I
am the author of the UFM "Download for Justice, Freedom &
Peace" campaign. Before I went any further I thought
that I should let you know what these words mean to me - so you
can understand what I am fighting for. I also want to give you my
thoughts on war. The following is my personal viewpoint,
that of Bob Dennis, who also happens to be a general in the UFM
army. |
|
Justice |
|
In
America we have a set of agreed-upon laws and assigned
punishment for breaking those laws. The fair
application of these laws and punishments is called
Justice. The present punishment for the crimes committed
in New York and Washington on September 11th is
capitol punishment (death). This extends not only to
the hijackers, but to anyone who aided their crimes before
or after the fact - that is the law. By living in or
even entering America you agree to be subject to America's
laws. I personally want Justice for this act of war. |
|
|
Freedom |
|
In
America we have an ability to make the laws. If
enough people want a law a certain way, the law gets
changed to that. If we disagree with a law or a
punishment (like capitol punishment) we really only have a
couple of choices. We can work to change the law, or
we can move elsewhere. If we stay, we agree that
everyone is subject to the laws. Civil disobedience
may be a method of expressing our feelings, but committing
crimes is not. |
|
We
have the right to express ourselves on how the laws should
read, but even the criminal has the freedom to say why he
or she shouldn't get the full penalty for crimes committed
- it's called a trial. So even though we have
justice, we have freedom. |
|
|
Peace |
|
I
think we all know what is meant by peace. I only
want to point out that peace is anti-war; and peace is
pro-freedom. I further feel peace can be
pro-justice. |
|
|
War. |
|
99%
of the casualties in war are of innocent victims that get
caught up in the cross-fire. Look at who died in the
act of war carried out on New York and Washington.
What percentage of those who died can be called guilty? |
|
War is
not justice - it's not a fair application of any kind of
punishment. |
|
War is
not freedom. During war your rights are suspended
under marshal law. You could be jailed or even shot
without a trial because you are accused of something. |
|
War is
certainly not peace. |
|
I'm
for Justice, Freedom and Peace, therefore I'm anti-war. |
