JOB DESCRIPTION:
The graduate of our Recording Techniques I program has basic knowledge and capabilities in professional recording. This certification gives direct training for many clerical and administrative jobs in the industry, jobs as apprenticing recording technicians and home, project studio & demo recording personnel.
Basic Digital Recording Technologies Course

TRAINING DESCRIPTION:

Section 1 - Recording Overview - 3 class meetings:

In the first 3 class meetings, students study the basics of studio and control room setup for a recording session along with the basics of sound and hearing. The section climaxes with a recording session done by the recording instructor with student assistance.
Section 2 - Microphone Techniques - 2 class meetings:
For the next two class meetings the students study microphones and their selection & placement for recording.
Section 3 - Control Room Techniques - 3 class meetings:
Students study control room techniques for the next 3 class meetings. Students study both professional consoles and workstations that they will use for individual practicals done during the rest of the course.
Section 4 - Mixing Techniques - 2 class meetings:
Students have practiced mixing techniques using classroom workstations (in the previous section) and now use the control room facilities to complete mixing assignments.
Section 5 - Overdubbing/recording techniques - 2 class meetings:
Students complete practical mixing, routing, sound check and recording assignments using studio/control room facilities.
Final Exam:      Final examination will be given 7 days after the last class.
Campus Practice/Study Time:     Up to 16 hours of additional study or individual practice with instructor assistance may be scheduled by each student.
