Successful completion of Recording Engineer
Program courses. Students must also have Internet access and an e-mail account that
is checked 3 times a week, as well as having a planned recording project.
Students are accepted by invitation after an admissions interview
where the prospective student presents the planned production
project. |
| JOB DESCRIPTION: |
| The Recording Engineer/Producer is a person
fully capable of performing the engineering functions of a recording project. This person
is also capable of directing the music and performance of a band recording as well as
having the knowledge to direct the marketing and distribution of a regional release. |
| The term "Recording Engineer" is
an industry term for the individual in charge of professional recording sessions and does
not imply possession of an "engineering license" or an "engineering
degree." |

Section 1 - Business Planning -
18 Lessons (or 6 class meetings) |
| Lessons on industry
standards, procedures and conditions regarding royalty
structure, music publishing, music releasing and covering the
roles of record companies, publishers, distributors, song
writers, recording artists, and music
producers. |
| Section 2 - Production-18
Lessons (or 6 class meetings) |
| Planning, execution
and the studio techniques employed by the music producer. |
| Section 3 - Marketing
Music - 18 Lessons (or 6 class meetings) |
| "Selling
In" to the music industry regarding distribution and
acceptance of the product by retail outlets and alternative
marketing strategies. |
| Section 4 - Promoting
Music Releases- 18 Lessons (or 6 class meetings) |
| "Selling
Through" to the music purchasing public including
advertising, radio promotions, in-store promotions and
Internet promotions. |
| Campus Practice/Study Time: Up
to 72 hours of additional study with instructor assistance may be
scheduled by each student in a 180 day period. |

examination will be given after studies are completed or 120
days after beginning. |

Fees cover 20 hours of pre-production (16
track) and 30 hours of production in a 24 track recording
studio. Student may purse additional production time (if
necessary) at current studio rates. |
| PROJECT
PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of all Recording
Engineer/Producer Program Courses plus the Music Business,
Production, Marketing & Promotions Course. Internet
access and active e-mail account required. |
| Students complete a 4-6 tune
recording project, including pre-production, recording, overdubbing, mixing and mastering. |
