Section 1 - Rhythm - 2 class
meetings: |
| Students learn to identify the beat and
measures and how these vary in different styles of music. Students learn basic note
and rhythm symbols, meter signatures, accents. Students perform drills in meter
signatures and common rhythm patterns. |
| Section 2 - Basic MIDI
Programming - 2 class meetings |
| Student learn to
use VisionTM
software on a Mac
Computer that will be used throughout the class for student
assignments. |
| Section 3 - Pitch - 2 class meetings: |
| Students learn the Treble and Bass clefs and
how to notate pitches on staves. Half step and whole step patterns for major and
minor keys are learned. Students learn to recognize major and minor keys, study keys
and key signatures. |
| Section 4 - Harmony -
2 class meetings: |
| Students learn the basics of intervals,
consonance, dissonance and the basics of triad chords. |
| Campus Practice/Study Time: Up
to 10 hours of additional study or individual practice with instructor assistance may be
scheduled by each student. |
| Final Exam: Final
examination will be given 7 days after the last class. |
