CLOCK HOURS:    396  (7 Courses plus recording project)

TUITION/BOOKS & MATERIALS:     $5898/$595   ($1650/$350  in addition to Recording Engineer Program Tuition/Books) plus an estimated $1350 studio charges for project.
PREREQUISITES:      Successful completion of Recording Engineer Program courses.  Students must also have Internet access and an e-mail account that is checked 3 times a week, as well as having a planned recording project. 
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Recording Engineer/Producer is a person fully capable of performing the engineering functions of a recording project. This person is also capable of directing the music and performance of a band recording as well as having the knowledge to direct the marketing and distribution of a regional release.
The term "Recording Engineer" is an industry term for the individual in charge of professional recording sessions and does not imply possession of an "engineering license" or an "engineering degree."

MEETINGS:     12 Classes - 3 hours each

COURSE PREREQUISITES:      Successful completion of Pro Audio Specialist Program or any other RID recording or production course. Internet & e-mail access.
TRAINING DESCRIPTION:

Section 1 - Establishing Oneself In The Music Business - 4 class meetings:

Students learn the basics of the the music business and how to plan and execute entry into the business.
Section 2 - Promotion and Marketing - 4 class meetings:
The students learn how to promote and market both their business and their musical and merchandise products.  Test marketing strategies are covered.
Section 3 - Producing & Releasing Recorded Product - 4 Class Meetings
The students learn the basics of making and releasing recorded product, including making a national record deal.
Campus Study Time:     Up to 10 hours of additional study with instructor assistance may be scheduled by each student.
Music Production Promotion And Marketing Course

MEETINGS:     10 Classes - 4.5  hours each

CLOCK HOURS:    45

TUITION/BOOKS:      $1099/$104

COURSE PREREQUISITES:      Successful completion of Associate Recording Engineer Program  Courses
TRAINING DESCRIPTION:

Section 1 - Business Planning - 3 class meetings

With class assistance and discussion, each student will formulate a specific 6-12 month business plan revolving around one sales cycle of the product to be produced in the student's recording project.
Section 2 - Production Planning - 3 class meetings:
With class assistance and discussion, each student will formulate a specific production plan creating a national-quality 4-6 tune product.
Section 3 - Promotion and Marketing Planning - 3 class meetings:
With class assistance and discussion, each student will formulate a specific promotion and marketing plan for one sales cycle of the product to be produced in the student's recording project. 
Section 4 - Final Wrap Up- 1 class meeting:
Students submit a final report containing the business, production, promotion and marketing of a 4-6 tune recording project and take a final examination.
Campus Practice/Study Time:     Up to 20 hours of additional study or individual practice with instructor assistance may be scheduled by each student.
Final Exam:      Final examination will be given 7 days after the last class.
Recording Project

MEETINGS:     Individual campus meetings as necessary

CLOCK HOURS:    50

FEES/MATERIALS:      $350/$100

RECORDING FEES:   The student is estimated to need $1000 for professional studio fees plus must pay RID coaching fees of $350 (for 10 hours of guidance).  This estimate assumes that the student will use 30 hours of course lab time for pre and demo production work.
PROJECT PREREQUISITE:  Successful completion of all Recording Engineer/Producer Program  Courses
Students complete a 4-6 tune recording project, including pre-production, recording, overdubbing, mixing and mastering.
