GETTING A DISTINCT ADVANTAGE IN MUSIC by Robert Dennis

In the center stands Jeremy Lafferty, a Recording Technician student at the Recording Institute of Detroit.  Jeremy and his band, GIFT, have a distinct advantage in their quest to become stars in the Music Industry.  Because Jeremy is an RID student, he has demoed over 20 of his band's tunes, is recording with a platinum selling rock producer and is being introduced to  a national record company.

Jeremy took advantage of his position as a student by being very responsible as a demo band for RID Classes.  This status is available to most graduates of RID if the band cooperates with and reliably shows up for sessions.  A hint of irresponsibility makes you quickly blacklisted from band recording.  When a band goes out of its way to be a last minute substitute band and does every session agreed to, they quickly are called for open dates. There is a LOT of recording that RID does.  It has a class session virtually every week and sometimes 3 sessions a weekend.

Jeremy became certified competent in multitrack recording during his Intermediate recording course. On his lab time for the class he mixes class sessions, redoes vocal overdubs and does solo demos.   Having the band be in on  multiple class recording sessions means he has material to work with.  Because he took the recording technician program he has the studio time to work on the material.
