Saxman Darron McKinney Answers the "Call to Courage"
by Frank Imani Jamal,
CORNBREAD PRODUCTIONS
Detroiter, Darron McKinney, has released a 15-song CD called "Soft Spoken" on a label he founded. One cut, "A Call to Courage," is  dedicated to the men and women of the nation's police forces, and written to serve as a wake-up call and inspiration to police officers everywhere. Performed  before 18,000 people in Washington, DC at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial candlelight  vigil on May 13, 2001, the tune has gained in significance after the 9/11 attacks.
An Intern Report
Interview edited by Frank Imani Jamal
That first studio gig one takes when embarking upon a career as a recording engineer can have the potential to start a promising path in audio production. Session Priorities
By Bob Dennis
In an article that I wrote in 2001 (but never posted) called "Session Priorities," I talk about what is expected out of a recording engineer in a national session with a recording star.

RID Interns Welcome an Out-Of-Town Recording Engineer/Producer
By Bob Dennis
Waiting at the studio to welcome the session was RID interns Eric and Dustin.  Mixing was to begin on a recording project of many world-renowned percussionists recorded live in September, 2003

Production Self-Evaluation
By Bob Dennis
DEVELOPING ARTIST PRODUCTIONS
Probably the biggest "trick" that a music producer needs to learn, is to be objective about evaluating the potential of a music production.  Its not easy.  Bob explains how it is done.

Quality EQ
By Bob Dennis

I define Quality equalization as boosting the correct set of harmonic frequencies on an instrument to achieve a desired tone quality change in the instrument. The difference is you are taking into account the frequencies actually being generated by the instrument.
